Admittance date: 3rd February 2023
Lesterina was with us for a couple of weeks after initially being found trapped in a metal gate. It’s not something we normally come across, and we’re still a bit confused as to how exactly she got herself into this tight predicament, but it worked out in her favour, as it meant we were able to scoop her up and take her into the unit where she was able to be treated for sarcoptic mange which was affecting her, particularly on her back end which was red raw. There was also a wound here which was weeping so she was put on a course of antibiotics, which cleared up the wound nicely.
As well as the wound/mange, Lesterina on admittance was quite dehydrated and underweight. After a couple of weeks with us on a varied diet, she put weight on and looked a lot healthier in herself. The skin on her back end, which was red raw, is now looking a lot smoother and will pave the way for fur to grow back. Lesterina made it clear she was not happy with our company, and is definitely one of the more feisty foxes that we get in. Some will cower in the corner whilst we do cleanouts, but Lesterina would always stand her ground and huff and puff to let us know she wasn’t a pushover! She’s been through a lot, and now she can get on with her life in the wild, hopefully avoiding any thin metal gates.
