Admittance date: 24th December 2024
Nicholas is the unfortunate victim of a road traffic collision that has left him with a broken metatarsal (toe) bone on his front left paw. Luckily for him, we were able to grab him from underneath a van using a grasper and get him assessed by our vets. The leg was x-rayed and bandaged up, and Nicholas is now on a course of antibiotics and pain relief whilst he undergoes some R&R with us to allow the bone to heal, which the vets are confident it will do.
06/01 - Nicholas, now in an outside pen, is fully weight bearing on his injured paw. On top of the break, blood tests showed he was quite anaemic on arrival, consistent with being involved in an RTA. Further tests since have shown improvement, and we've been advised to keep Nicholas in until at least the 9th of January. All things considered, he's very lively and wound is looking good/the bone itself will heal over time, and so it doesn't seem we'll have to keep Nicholas in for much longer.
10/01 - with his wounds now healed and Nicholas fully weight bearing on his leg, and having been with us for over two weeks now to recover from his anaemia, we're going to get him home on Sunday night.
12/01 - Nicholas was released back home to Barnsley this evening. Watch this space for release video.
