Admittance date: 2nd January 2025
Salvador was picked up from a cardboard box filled with hay in a garden, putting up no resistance at all when picked up. We took him to our vets immediatley where he was assessed. Despite his condition, he is still quite lively and is not severely dehydrated. He's been prescribed some antibiotics and given some treatment for the mange, so we're keeping our fingers crossed for him that he can pull through.
06/01 - after just a few days with us, Salvador is showing much improvement. Lots of crust is coming off on its own, exposing some red raw skin, which will be able to heal now thanks to removal of the crust and the course of antibiotics he is on. We're also finding a lot of dead ticks when cleaning out, so clearly the Bravecto he was given for mange is taking effect. He must feel a lot more comfortable without all of those parasites on him.
10/01 - continued improvement for Salvador, which pretty much all crust having come off, and skin looking a lot less inflamed and red.
17/01 - two weeks in and Salvador looks like a new fox. We'll shortly be moving him into an outdoor pen to allow him more space and to acclimitise him to the weather before he's realeased home.
25/01 - Salvador now in an outdoor pen, his fur is starting to slowly grow back. Hoping to release him relatively soon after his ordeal.
02/02 - Thrilled to announce that Salvador was released on the evening of Sunday 2nd February, looking a hundred times better than when he was first admitted.
